BELONG AT CROOKED WATER
Crooked Water is a club that comes together in community.
Golf leagues for men and women, junior golf programs, and many other offerings bring our club together. With our renovated golf course, which will fully open 2027, alongside our 9-hole short course and revamped practice facility, golf is at the heart of everything we do.
Our clubhouse is the perfect place to grab a meal before your golf experience, or to find time with friends afterwards. Offering golf simulators for the time when winter arrives, a ballroom for events, and a terrific Member Grill with panoramic views of Jay Blasi’s golf design, the clubhouse is where members come together to share lasting experiences.
The invention of Crooked Water
In 2026, Burl Oaks became Crooked Water, a move designed to coincide with the dramatic changes made at the club, including the recreation of its 18-hole golf course, a new short course and practice facility. The change was made under the guidance of noted brand designer Lee Wybranski. Having helped over 100 clubs with their logos and branding over the last 25 years, and having designed the official U.S. Open Championship logo since 2004, Lee and his team tapped into the indigenous history of the Dakota culture.
Historic legacy
The club is located in Minnetrista—which translates from the Dakota language to “Crooked Water”—providing the perfect inspiration for a new name. The Kingfisher, a revered symbol to the Dakota culture and native to the area, became the natural choice to represent the club moving forward as its logo.
Our Revitalized Course
In 2025, renowned golf course architect Jay Blasi began a comprehensive redesign of our golf course, opening dramatic views and refining the routing to elevate the playing experience. While the full transformation will be completed in 2027, we are excited to share the majority of the back 9, as well as the newly created short course, will be available for play during the 2026 season.
Club Amenities
In addition to the course, which will fully reopen in 2027, Crooked Water offers outstanding amenities to its members.
The Member Experience
Crooked Water brings together exceptional golf, genuine camaraderie, and a welcoming spirit creating a club where members feel at home among friends.
+ Practice
Alongside the golf course transformation, a comprehensive upgrade to the practice facilities is underway—equipping members with everything needed to sharpen their game from tee to green. Additionally, our architect, Jay Blasi, has dreamed up a short course that is ideal for working on your game, or enjoying time with friends.
+ Pickleball Courts
While golf remains at the heart of the club, in recent years pickleball courts were introduced as a complementary amenity providing members with another fun and active way to connect and spend time at the club.
+ The Wenkstern Ballroom
With breathtaking views overlooking the golf course, the Wenkstern Ballroom provides an elegant setting for both member and guest events. Accommodating up to 160 guests, the space is perfectly suited for weddings, corporate meetings, school reunions, team banquets, family celebrations, casual gatherings and a wide variety of memorable occasions.
+ Golf Simulators
During the winter months, golf members can take advantage of our three indoor golf simulators, creating an ideal environment to continue to keep your game in shape when the course is closed. The space hosts winter leagues, club fitting events, lessons, and casual rounds with friends, keeping members engaged with the game year-round.
+ The Golf Shop
The Golf Shop at Crooked Water features a curated selection of golf apparel, equipment, and merchandise, with knowledgeable staff available to assist members and guests. The shop also offers custom club fitting services to ensure your equipment is perfectly matched to your game. Golf members benefit from preferred pricing through our Member Pricing Program.

It’s a favorite gathering place for members during the golf season and throughout the year. Whether you’re breaking down your round with friends, catching a game, or simply stopping in to relax, The Member Grill is a comfortable place to spend time at the club. Enjoy the dining room, grab a seat at the bar, or take in the view from the deck however you choose to settle in, you’re among friends.
The Golf Experience
+ Men’s League
Men’s League is a cornerstone of the golf season at Crooked Water. Each Wednesday evening, teams square off in a friendly nine-hole match, creating a lively mix of competition and camaraderie.
It’s one of the best ways to connect with fellow members, whether you’re catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, or simply enjoying a summer evening on the course. And when the round is finished, the stories, laughs, and post-round gatherings often carry on well after sunset.
+ Women’s Leagues
Held Thursday mornings, our 18-Hole Women’s League brings together players of all skill levels for a welcoming and social round of golf. With a bit more competitive structure than some of our other leagues, the season features a variety of team and individual formats that keep the game engaging week after week. There’s an additional women’s 9-hole twilight leage and Tuesday Fun nights offered.
+ Couples
Crooked Water is happy to offer fun golf outings for couples! Members love meeting other couples at our Twilight Couples League and our Couples’ Club Championship.
+ Junior Golf Program
Crooked Water has a thriving and very popularJunior Golf Program. With an emphasis on fun, our Junior Golf Program aims to build the kids’ interest in the game while teaching them the basics of the game’s rules, etiquette, and swing techniques.
The Crooked Water Junior Golf Program begins with a series of skill development clinics that focus on the fundamentals of the game. After completing the clinics, the juniors play weekly on the golf course. These organized play days are held on Monday mornings, with professional staff providing on-course coaching to juniors as they play. Crooked Water also offers a PGA Junior Traveling League team for boys and girls aged 9-13 who are looking to play on a competitive golf team.
